Business Training
Nafasi…is the word for opportunity in Swahili.
Heart of the Bride is committed to participate in the future of those we are helping by providing opportunities for them to pursue the calling of God upon
their lives and provide for their future families. Even with education, many young adults lack economic opportunities within the cultures that we are working. This phase of ministry is just beginning, but HOB
is committed to a model that not only provides some skill training, but also training in business and
financial principles that are Biblically based.
Nafasi Today:
In 2011 in Kenya, we are beginning the first Pilot program for this aspect of the ministry.
This ministry will be open to children that we are helping throughout the country. Students will gather
in a central location for approximately nine months to participate in a work program that generates
income for them and for the continuation of the program. In Kenya, the business component is coffee
farming. Students will learn different aspects of the business from planting to marketing and expansion.
They will also be engaged in intensive discipleship and “living” studies in the business and Biblical
stewardship.
The Kenya model, which begins with a small farm, represents our commitment to seek viable small
business opportunities that offer multiple layers of business exposure and opportunities for low risk
expansion.
Similar models are vital and in the development stages both in Zambia and in Haiti where we have many
children reaching the age of transition into adult life. Nafasi programs will need missionaries who have
business and development experience.
